About The Artist
Jane is a teacher by profession and vocation, as well as an amateur sculptor. She was an active member of a local sculpting club for 18 years and latterly took over the teaching role there for 18 months. It was in 2012 that she embraced and channelled her love of colour and pattern into a practical application by enrolling onto a 3-day mosaic course. This was the beginning of her mosaic journey.
She cleared a space in her garage, set up a table and spent the next three years avidly working on personal projects to improve her skills. During this time she also realised that the enthusiastic teacher within wanted to share her acquired skills and knowledge, so the garage transformed into a studio, and the studio became her classroom.
The myriad of colours and textures that mosaic materials offer, and the seemingly endless ways that they can be cut, shaped and fixed to almost any surface, has been and continues to be a fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable journey of discovery.
